YAMAHA YST-SW225
¥ 28,000 (1 unit, released in 2004)
Commentary
225 series active subwoofer.
The unit is equipped with 20 cm cone type woofer.
QD-Bass technology is adopted.
In this system, the woofer unit is installed downward and a pyramidal diffuser plate is installed on the bottom to efficiently radiate low-temperature energy in four horizontal directions. This realizes smooth frequency characteristics and free setting regardless of installation location.
The enclosure uses the A-YST II (Advanced Yamaha Active Serve Technology) system, which is a review of the A-YST system and further improves sound quality.
Based on the concept of an air woofer that uses air itself as a diaphragm, the A-YST system enables low-sound reproduction even in a small enclosure, which is equivalent to that of a large speaker. In addition, the A-YST II system drives the frequency band above the "fo" (lowest resonance frequency) of the woofer unit with a constant current, and uses a uniquely shaped port that suppresses wind noise to further improve the speed and clearness of heavy low-sound.
There were 2 color variations of cherry and white wood for finishing of the exterior.
It has a real wood veneer finish with the same polyurethane open pore coating as high-grade wood pianos.
