Commentary
Stereo cassette deck equipped with ORBiT.
It is equipped with ORBiT (Optimum Record Bias Tuning) developed using original microcomputer technology.
This circuit is a semi-automatic version of the α -ORBiT used in the K-2000, and allows optimum bias control while viewing the display.
The recording / reproducing head uses a low-impedance pure Sendust head with a 2-laminate structure.
Yamaha's unique Pure Sendust head with excellent magnetic properties is multi-laminated and combined with recording and playback heads to enable simultaneous recording and monitoring, which was impossible in the past. In addition, excellent recording and re-frequency characteristics are realized because the gap length can be set to the optimum for recording and playback.
A direct drive mechanism is adopted for the mechanism part.
Linear EM transduction developed with the aim of electric-magnetic strain-free conversion is adopted.
In the conventional deck, the head is driven by a recording amplifier with an LC bias oscillator and a bias trap at the output. However, in the Linear EM Transduction, a bias with less distortion is mixed at the input of the recording amplifier and the head is directly driven by a constant current. This improves the distortion of the head current and reduces IM distortion and beatdown during recording.
As a noise reduction system, dbx is installed in addition to Dolby B.
Equipped with a 16-point wide range bar graph meter.
Linear counter is used for the tape counter.
The linear counter differs from the conventional counter in that it can show the running time of the tape linearly and gives a more accurate display.
There are 2 variations, silver and black.
Remote operation is also possible by connecting the optional wired remote controller.
