YAMAHA MC-3
¥ 37,000 (around 1981)
Commentary
MC cartridge with 0.145 mg lightweight vibration system.
The MC-3 employs a cross-power generation system in which the coil is replaced with an air-core type using a high-strength plastic cross-shaped core, thereby solving the problem of magnetic strain generated by the metal core.
Samarium-cobalt magnet is used for the magnetic circuit.
The housing is molded with terminals made of high-strength plastic to reduce unwanted resonance.
The damper uses a unique stepped damper made of butyl rubber.
