BOSE AM-15

Commentary

This is a 5.1 ch speaker system that uses Kusu timmass technology.

Bose's unique acoustic technology has been adopted. A 5.1 channel configuration consisting of satellite speakers and a subwoofer section (acoustimass) that is in charge of frequencies below 200 Hz allows both miniaturization and enhancement of the low Kusu range.


Satellite speaker

The satellite speakers are wide-range satellite speakers.
All five of these satellite speakers have the same playback capability, eliminating the need to adjust the level or tone quality of each channel. The ultra-compact design also provides a wide range of diffusivity.

The unit uses a 6 cm cone type full range unit with strengthened magnetic circuit.
This unit has expanded the cone paper excursion to 9 mm, which is unusual for this size, by reviewing the vibration system and adopting the baffle plate integrated structure.

The direct / reflective theory has been introduced to achieve the ideal acoustic energy diffusion in concert halls in ordinary homes. The satellite speaker is a double-shot type that allows the orientation of the upper and lower speakers to be changed. By changing the orientation of each speaker, the balance between direct and indirect sound is controlled.

Anti-magnetic countermeasure of the canceling magnet system is provided.


A Kusu Timas

The Kusu Timmass has a built-in 120W power amplifier in order to reproduce heavy bass sound with sufficient power. In the amplifier section, bass signals for a total of six channels of L/C/R/SL/SR and LFE are synthesized and reproduced by the Kusu Timmass.
In addition, the bass and LFE have their own independently adjustable volumes, and the LFE can be adjusted up to ± 9 dB.

Bose's unique base power summing technology is used to prevent phase interference between the front channel and surround channel bass energy.
In the AM-15 Kusu Timmass, this technology is further refined, and all six channels of phase signals are phase-matched by electronic circuits and synthesized. The synthesized bass signals are then played back by a 13 cm long excursion woofer installed in the Kusu Timmass.

The interior of the A Kusu Timus has a 3-room structure, and the high-frequency distortion generated from the cone paper of the speaker is cut by the air filter in 3 chambers and 3 ports, and flat and efficient low-sound reproduction over a wide band is realized.

Equipped with Bose's unique P. A. P. circuit that automatically adjusts the sound balance so that you can hear the sound most naturally at any volume level. This gives you a natural sound balance even when you reduce the volume.
In addition, since a compression circuit is installed, sound cracking does not occur even when there is an excessive input.

The AM-15's built-in low-frequency power amplifier uses a G-class amplifier that uses separate power sources for normal volume and high output. This improves the energy conversion efficiency of the amplifier by approximately 30% and reduces heat generation by approximately 60%, making it smaller and lighter.
In addition, a limiter circuit is mounted to protect the amplifier from destruction due to thermal runaway.


Other

A smart protector protects the satellite speakers from excessive input.

It uses a push-in connector that can connect the positive terminal and negative terminal simultaneously, eliminating the need for connection. It also comes with a dedicated cable that combines five cables into one. Each connector and cable clearly indicate which channel they belong to.
The Kusu Timus also uses a square D-BUS connector that can be wired with one touch.
