YAMAHA TC-800GL
¥ 75,000 (released in 1976)
Commentary
This cassette deck was developed by Mario Bellini who is a world-famous industrial designer.
The TC-800GL has adopted a unique form called an angle with a berry, and you can check the letters, scale, level meter and tape running condition of all operation parts when placed at eye level or looking down from right above.
In addition, it can be carried more compactly by folding the storage type flap on the back.
The capstan shaft of the mechanism part is subjected to high-precision lowering, and rotation unevenness is minimized by finishing the perfect circle accuracy of the capstan shaft in the order of 0.1 micron.
Super hard permalloy head is used for the head.
The head is made of Permalloy, a well-known material for magnetic heads, and its wear resistance is as high as that of ferrite. Research on the shape of the head has also improved the low-frequency waviness (contour effect).
Equipped with a large level meter.
In addition, the TC-800GL is equipped with two peak level indicators (green -3dB (standard level) and red + 4 dB (peak level)) independently on the left and right sides, which makes it easier to monitor the peak levels of the left and right channels.
Equipped with Dolby NR as a noise reduction system.
It is also equipped with a limiter function to prevent sudden large input.
Equipped with a tape selector switch for compatibility with various types of tapes.
It uses a slide volume in which the microphone and line are separated, making it possible to record the mixing of the line and microphone.
Equipped with a slide-type pitch control function, you can adjust the pitch during playback by ± 3%.
It uses a headphone amplifier of IC-OTL circuit and is compatible with high impedance headphones.
Equipped with the absence recording function, it is possible to record absence by combining with an external timer.
It is designed not to put too much pressure on the mechanism when the voice recorder is set.
It uses 3 power source system and supports AC100V, DC12V which can also be used for dry batteries and car batteries.
ABS resin is used for the body in pursuit of lightness and durability.
There are 2 color variations, black and ivory.
There was a carry back as an optional item sold separately.
