The first CD player released by Yamaha.

For focus control to keep focusing on the disc signal surface, we have adopted a gain switching servo system that can respond to school regulations using Yamaha's original hybrid IC.
Comes with an auto-lock that automatically returns immediately even if out focus occurs, and follows the disk surface within ± 2 microns.
In addition, it is equipped with Yamaha's original phase-detection-type high-gain servo in order to accurately follow on the ultra-small pit row. It traces with a high precision of ± 0.2 micron, and it is combined with a high-performance 1-beam type optical head that does not deteriorate the high-frequency characteristics to minimize the occurrence of errors.

A double error correction circuit is installed to correct reading errors.
In addition, in order to prevent the generation of noise due to miscorrection, a circuit for constantly checking whether the correction is correct is installed, and stable tracing and reproduction are realized.

The D/A converter uses a 16-bit linear conversion method and a unique twin configuration.
Since the left and right channels are processed in the digital stage, there is no need to switch analog signals. This improves sound quality and enables accurate L/R in-phase demodulation.

The low-pass filter, which has a significant effect on sound quality, employs a tantalum thin-film capacitor and a tantalum metal thin-film resistor.
In addition, the analog circuit is completely shielded to prevent harmful digital noise from affecting the analog circuit.

The power supply uses Yamaha's original pure current dam system, which is free from harmful nonlinear effects inside and outside the circuit. In addition, digital and analog power supplies are separated to prevent mutual interference.
In addition, in order to prevent digital noise from affecting the power supply, a line filter is used in the power supply to cut the noise.

Quality parts such as plastic Chemi-Con and Mylar film condenser are used.

A horizontal front loading system is used for disk loading.
In addition, it is a unique disk view method in which the disk signal surface is visible.

In the operation system, the disc playing section is stored in the left tray and the program key section is stored in the right tray. In addition, the operation switch and display for normal performance and program performance are separately installed in the center and left.

You can play a phrase that is specified by programming and only that phrase is played. You can also play up to a total of 15 songs by programming, and you can play one song, all songs, or repeat program.
It is also equipped with a space key that keeps the interval between songs constant (about four seconds) when the program is played, and a check key that lets you check the content of the program (performance and the number or phrase of the song) on the display.
