Commentary
This is a bookshelf speaker system developed by inheriting the concept inherited from the DS 505 to the DS 503.
A 32 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
A newly developed Polykraft honeycomb cone is used for the diaphragm. This diaphragm has a structure in which a skin material, which is made by impregnating special resin into paper pulp, and a Kraft honeycomb core, which is also impregnated with resin, are joined together with a polyamide adhesive. By using a composite material like this, while taking advantage of the large internal loss, low density, and excellent mass productivity of paper, it realizes a high specific elastic modulus which is about four times that of paper. By using a honeycomb structure, internal loss is improved by 20% compared with paper. In addition, harmonic distortion due to split vibration is reduced by 15 dB compared with paper cone.
In the DS 501, the resonance is reduced by using Polykraft honeycomb cone and attaching polyamide fiber to the center cap to improve the resolution in the middle and low frequencies. In addition, the magnetic circuit is equipped with a low-strain ring to eliminate the strain generated from the drive system.
The mid-range features a 6.5 cm dome mid-range.
A newly developed D. U. D. ω - titanium diaphragm is used for the diaphragm. The ω - titanium diaphragm is heat-treated in a special atmosphere. The surface hardening improves the Young's modulus of the diaphragm. By this, the upper limit frequency is passed to the higher band, and the reproduction frequency band is expanded. In addition, by making this material a D. U. D structure, the driving force generated in the voice coil can be transmitted to the ω - titanium diaphragm without loss, and the response to input signals is improved with less attenuation in the high frequency range. In addition, in the D. U. D structure, the heat generated in the voice coil is directly conducted to the diaphragm, so the heat radiation effect is increased, and linearity and input resistance characteristics by input signals are improved.
In addition, a newly developed tangential edge is used for the edge part, and appropriate internal loss is given by molding it into a multi-layer structure using cloth as a base material and special binder.
A 2.5 cm dome-shaped tweeter is installed in the high range.
This unit uses a D. U. D ω - titanium diaphragm similar to the mid-range.
The network circuit uses Diatone's unique low-distortion network circuit.
In this method, elements such as coils and capacitors that make up the network are strictly checked, and a crimping wiring method using OFC crimping is used for connection.
When the level control is set to 0 point, the level control circuit jumps completely.
The enclosure is a high-rigidity enclosure developed from the latest vibration analysis technology such as modal analysis.
The DS 501 uses the well-known wrapping and fixing pattern splice, and the baffle plate is made of 12 mm + 12 mm laminated plywood to further increase rigidity.
