Commentary
A speaker system that combines the SL600 with a cabinetless woofer module.
SL600
A 15 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range.
This unit has a complete one piece structure without a dust cap. The cone is made of a special chemical material based on Celestion's unique know-how. The edge is tightly connected to the cone by molecular bonds, making it seamless from the center to the edge.
Ferrite magnet is used for the magnetic circuit, and die-cast frame is used for the frame.
A 3.5 cm dome type tweeter is installed in the high range.
A metal cone is used for the diaphragm, the voice coil is wound directly on the metal cone, and excellent response is obtained by the support of a special suspension. In addition, the metal cone itself acts as a heat sink for the heat generated from the voice coil to dissipate the heat, and the unit itself has excellent input resistance of 140W.
A die-cast frame is used for the frame to eliminate unnecessary vibration.
The enclosure is made of aluminum honeycomb material for aircraft with less energy storage effect, eliminating time delay caused by resonance of wooden cabinet.
Woofer part
In the System6000, the Woofer module is responsible for frequencies below 100 Hz by means of a lectronic crossover.
The woofer module is called a double-dipole woofer array and is acoustically equivalent to a two element FM dipole antenna.
The low-range unit contains two 30-cm cone type woofers with newly developed strong double magnet and die-cast frame.
In the System6000, the woofer units are front and rear mounted and the center contains a heavy duty cliff stone type stand.
The center pole that supports SL600 is filled with metal particles and pebbles, and four large spikes are designed to secure the entire system to the floor.
A special controller (crossover / equalizer) is attached to adjust the level and range of the woofer.
Because the System6000 is bi-amped, it requires two power amplifiers, which give better results at a minimum of 100W + 100W.
Using the same amplifier, setting the Frequency Range to 60 Hz and the Level Control to 5 gives the same characteristics as the SL600, while setting the Frequency Range to 20 Hz and the Level Control to 6 or 7 gives the full performance of the System6000.
Only a woofer module and controller were sold for users who already own SL600.
