Commentary
Tape deck with cross field head.
Cross-field head is used for the head part.
This head was the first to be put into practical use by AKAI. In the conventional recording method, a signal current and a bias current are applied to the recording head together, but the recorded signal is erased or weakened by the influence of a wide bias magnetic field.
In the cross-field method, the signal current is applied to the recording head, and the bias current is applied to the external bias head. Moreover, each head is located at a predetermined spatial position with relative offset, so that the signal recorded on the tape is not adversely affected by the bias field.
Uses a hysteresis synchronous 2-speed motor.
The amplifier section is equipped with an all-silicon transistor solid-state preamplifier.
Equipped with automatic shut-off mechanism, tape cleaner, DIN jack, stereo headphone jack, 3-digit tape counter and VU meter.
It uses a universal power supply voltage selector and can freely change the voltage between 100 VAC ~ 240 VAC. It can be used at either 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
It can be used either horizontally or vertically.
38cm/s is also supported by using an adapter.
